How much does a trip cost?

So, how much does a trip cost?

Prices due to change all the time, usually on the rise, and yet I have tried to quantify the daily expenses of a trip to the USA and Canada (without flights).

A family staying in hotels will pay about $670 per day:

Hotels – about $300 per night for a basic but reasonable hotel (one room for 5-6 people), and for a trip that does not include many days in the city where accommodation is usually more expensive. If you travel in the less popular areas of the USA and Canada you can also find rooms for $200 per night. If you travel in the more expensive areas, the price will increase. Of course the price may be higher depending on the season of the year, the region in which you travel, the number of children in the family, etc.

Vehicle and fuel – about 120$ per day

Activities and entry to sites – about 100$ on average per day. Without amusement parks and high-cost activities and shows. Days spent in the city will be more expensive than days spent outdoors

Food – about 150$ a day – for families that are able to cut down in expenses and stock up on basic products in supermarkets (for families that are not able to cut down – 250$ a day or more)

A couple staying in hotels will pay about $510 per day:

Hotels – about $250 per night for a basic but reasonable hotel, and for a trip that does not include many days in the city where accommodation is usually more expensive. If you travel in the less popular areas of the USA and Canada you can also stay for $150 per night. If you travel in the more expensive areas, the price will increase. Of course the price may be Higher depending on the season of the year, the region in which you travel etc.

Vehicle and fuel – about 100$ per day (if you settle for a small car)

Activities and entry to sites – about 60$ on average per day. Without amusement parks and high-cost activities and shows. Days spent in the city will be more expensive than days spent outdoors

Food – about 100$ a day – for people that are able to cut down in expenses and stock up on basic products in supermarkets (for those who are not able to do so – 150$ a day or more)

If you stay in a RV, your trip will cost about 590$ per day per family (less per couple):

RV rental – around 350$ per night (fuel plus a relatively large RV suitable for a family – it should be noted that the price range of renting in RV is very large depending on the date of trip, the location and booking date – the earlier you book the cheaper the price will be)

Public campgrounds – an average of 40$ per night

Activities and entry to sites – about 100$ on average per day per family (less per couple). Without amusement parks and high-cost activities and shows. Days spent in the city will be more expensive than days spent outdoors

Food – can amount to about 100$ per family (less for a couple), assuming you cook in the RV and minimize eating in restaurants

If you stay in a tent, your expenses will total about 360$ a day per family (less per couple):

Vehicle and fuel – about 120$ per day

Public campgrounds – an average of 40$ per night

Activities and entry to sites – about 100$ on average per day per family (less per couple). Without amusement parks and high-cost activities and shows. Days spent in the city will be more expensive than days spent outdoors

Food – can amount to about 100$ per family (less for a couple), assuming you cook outdoors and minimize eating in restaurants

Pay attention:

– The price of accommodation may be higher depending on the season of the year, the region of the country where you travel, the date of booking and more

– The price of a hotel room per couple is usually similar to the price for a family of four

– The trip cost mentioned above do not include the cost of flights, medical insurance, communication packages etc.
