New York Circular 40 – A short route in New England (mainly in New Hampshire and Vermont) that includes the White Mountains and the Green Mountains. Great for viewing the spectacular fall foliage in Autumn. It is of course recommended to add a few days in New York City at the beginning or end of this route.
Day 1 – Land in New York and drive to North Conway, 6 hours drive
(This is a relatively long day. If you intend landing in New York late, you should add a night in New York before setting off or add a night on the way to North Conway)

Day 2 – Travel in the eastern part of the White Mountains
Lodging location: North Conway
Day 3 – Cross the White Mountains through route 112 (Kancamagus Highway) and drive to the town of Stowe (Vermont), 3 hours drive
Lodging location: Stowe
Day 4 – Enjoy activities around Stowe and then drive south on scenic route 100, towards the town of Woodstock (Vermont), and visit sites along the way, 2 hours drive
Lodging location: Woodstock
Day 5 – Drive back to New York, 4.5 hours drive
Lodging location: New York
